Weekly Sketchbook: Navigating the Lesson Plan

"Layers of Identity"

My lesson plan, "Layers of Identity" combines collage, painting, and drawing with conceptual thinking to encourage students to examine their own identities, culture, and heritage and express that through mixed media.

While working on this sketchbook spread, I wanted to begin examining the process of layering self-portraits with mixed media. I wanted to make sure this process was not only fun, but approachable for a High School Art I or II class.

It was really fun to play around with different elements and begin mapping out this lesson plan.
